Radiometric Thermal Flown

Every thermal survey we fly uses a true radiometric sensor — meaning the imagery carries real, calibrated temperature data, not just a colorized approximation of heat.

Why this matters to you

Not all "thermal drone" services fly radiometric hardware. Some use standard cameras with a heat-map filter applied after the fact — imagery that looks similar at a glance but carries no actual temperature data behind it. That distinction matters enormously for moisture detection: a subtle wet-insulation pocket can be a difference of only a degree or two, which a non-radiometric heat map simply cannot resolve reliably.

What Radiometric Data Gives You

  • Every pixel carries an actual temperature value, measured to a fraction of a degree — not just a color on a gradient
  • Delta-T (temperature differential) can be calculated precisely between any two points on the roof, revealing moisture even under subtle thermal variation
  • Data can be re-analyzed later with different color palettes or thresholds without reflying, since the underlying temperature data never changes
  • Results are repeatable and defensible — useful for insurance claims, warranty documentation, and reserve studies where a consultant may need to verify findings

Flown at the Right Time

Radiometric accuracy also depends on when the flight happens. We fly thermal surveys post-sunset, once the sun's residual heating on the roof surface has dissipated enough that the remaining temperature differential is coming from what's actually happening underneath the membrane — trapped moisture — rather than surface sun exposure patterns.
