Radiometric Delta-T Thermal Moisture Surveys
An infrared roof moisture survey done right: post-sunset flights isolate subsurface insulation moisture pockets before they become interior leaks and structural claims — captured with a true radiometric sensor, not a heat-map filter applied after the fact.
What this means for you
Infrared imagery where every pixel is an exact temperature reading lets us see water trapped inside your roof insulation that's completely invisible to the naked eye — often years before it works its way through the membrane and shows up as a ceiling stain or an insurance claim. Finding it early is usually the difference between a patch repair and a full section replacement.
How the Survey Works
- Flown post-sunset, once the roof surface's residual solar heating has dissipated, so the remaining temperature differential reflects what's happening underneath the membrane rather than sun exposure patterns
- Every pixel is a true radiometric temperature reading, not a colorized approximation — letting us calculate Delta-T (temperature differential) precisely between any two points on the roof
- Wet insulation loses and retains heat differently than dry insulation, so trapped moisture shows up as a distinct thermal anomaly even when the surface above it looks completely normal
- Anomalies are plotted directly onto the property's orthomosaic map, so every hotspot or cold spot has an exact, repeatable location — not just a general area
Not All "Thermal Drone" Services Are the Same
Some services fly a standard camera with a heat-map color filter applied afterward — imagery that looks similar at a glance but carries no actual temperature data behind it. That distinction matters for moisture detection specifically: a wet-insulation pocket can show up as a difference of only a degree or two, which a non-radiometric heat map can't resolve reliably.
Annual NDL Warranty Compliance Audits
Most manufacturer NDL (No Dollar Limit) warranties require documented, periodic maintenance inspections to stay valid — commonly at least once or twice a year, though the exact frequency and scope vary by manufacturer, so check your specific warranty. A radiometric thermal survey gives you dated, professional-grade documentation of that inspection, and it catches trapped moisture years before a basic visual walk-through would. Ask about scheduling an annual or twice-yearly compliance survey timed to your warranty's requirements.
